Summertime

Amy, Rachel and I went of for coffee (well, tea really) the other day. It was so much fun! We went to Nata's Cafe in the rip-roaring busy town of Peterborough (lol) and we had pie and cake slices with our chai latees (for them) and a smoothie for me. It was yummy. And we just talked and hung out. Rachel's real nice...I met her when I was last here...like 10 years ago! Very cool. Hope we can do that again!

Today I had blood tests (ow, no fun!) and then we went out to a Noodle Box-esque place and I had pad thai and a summer roll and it was pretty good! I had to fast for the blood work so it was a much appreciated meal. We stopped at the health food store (oh Amy's fav place haaa) and looked at all the fun (and super-healthy) stuff, and got some essentials such as chocolate, cheese and ice cream! Very fun. Went to the library too and picked up some movies and CD's.

Its so sunny out, and like 21 C (70 F) degrees out! Lovely. But a little windy!

  2. Hi Nicole!

    I am glad you are having some sunshine, and some good visits;
    I thought you would be happy to know about a conversation last week that I had with some co-workers. I am still fairly new where I work (six months) so when Lyme came up in a conversation I was amazed at how much people knew. They knew about you - and about Gwen's daughter, but they also knew some small details (like that even newt ticks carry lyme, and that a bunch of bacateria are involved not one), they knew to be scared, they didn't understand why you are not being treated at home - and that part is hard to understand without seeing 'Under our Skin' which I told them to go and see or find on youtube. They knew a lot more than I did when you were diangosed and I think that has a lot to do with the awareness *your* story has created.
    So I thought you would be happy because in my opinion, two years ago this same group would not have known anything. I think through awareness created by your ordeal people are 'getting it' people want to and support things like a class action suit to your care covered. People are behind you, and they care - the world is spreading! Hopefully this 'tide of awareness' will bring you home soon.
    I know it's so hard what you have had to go through, how you have been seperated and your life hijacked and although very small the balance may be I do think you are making a HUGE difference to the lives of people like yourselves who will be diangosed and treated in the future without nonsense. (stepping off my soap box now!)

    Take care hugs to your mom, we're all makign noise over here so keep your chin up and keep enjoying the sun!

    xx Emma

    ps, we got a new puppy ! (sunshine - or sunny for short, she is a Westie X) and I was shocked when the vet said she should have a lyme vaccination!
